My words are entertaining
for the time in class remaining,
until the class begins complaining
that poetry is straining.

You don't see,
my simile - oh how bright it smiles
like an opening rose.
My alliteration walks down the aisle,
bearing budding bouquets
bound with beautiful bows.

My onomatopoeia thumps
as it reaches the third stanza,
screeches as it goes “kurplunk”
and crashes into a poetic bonanza.

And yes my euphony’s sound
almost as sweet as a strawberry crowned
with a hundred frosted hyperbole cups
mixed together and baked until hunger erupts.

Indeed my imagery has painted
on a canvas that hangs on a busy hall.
Yet not a single soul is acquainted
with my stanzas, my message, or my rhythm at all.

You don't see a white, silky dress
stained by soot on its seams
I've sewn all night, I primped and pressed
until I saw its last button gleam.

All you do is make a fuss.
You don’t understand my meter or tone.
You wish the teacher would just leave you alone!
Poetry is not what you want to discuss.

It's just another composition.
Homework to you - the skeptical
You wish to tear my recent submission
and hurl it into its proper receptacle.

it probably wasn't so moving anyway
it didn't use personification or assonance
it lacked metonymy and idioms,
what more is there to say?
Just crumple me up, there's nothing left to discuss
when you finish reading this I’ll just become
untitled by anonymous.
